Common questions

How do I start a recording?

Open ScreenNest from Chrome’s extension toolbar. Choose your settings, click Start recording, and select the exact screen, window, or tab in Chrome’s sharing dialog. Keep the studio tab open until you stop.

Why is screen capture blocked on my Mac?

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording (called Screen Recording on some macOS versions). Allow Chrome and relaunch it if requested. Microphone access may need separate approval.

Why is there no system or tab audio?

Audio capture depends on Chrome, your operating system, and the source selected. Enable Source audio in ScreenNest and Share audio in Chrome’s dialog when offered. If Chrome provides no source audio track, ScreenNest displays a message. Microphone recording is a separate option.

Where are my recordings?

Open My recordings in the studio to preview or download WebM files. Recordings stay in the extension’s local browser database. Removing the extension or clearing its data deletes that library. Downloaded files are separate copies.

Can I export MP4 or record longer sessions?

This version exports WebM. MP4 conversion, editing and webcam overlays are not included. A recording stops after 60 minutes or approximately 512 MB. Start a new recording for another take.

What happens if a recording is interrupted?

Saved chunks may appear as an incomplete recording. Recovery and playback are not guaranteed. The developer cannot restore local files. Download important recordings for safekeeping.
